Laundry Day Thursday

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 11:53 am

Baby Asian (cranky) Monkey PrincessWoke up extra early to do laundry and then hopefully get to Derby by the time Logan gets out of school. I’ve been randomly visiting the fridge slowly finishing off Mom’s Macaroni Chicken Salad that she prepared for me to take home yesterday. Yummy in my tummy!

With everything that’s been going on, I’m feeling extra lethargic, but it’s okay, my horoscope authorized me to be lazy today. It said -

Where’s the fire? There is no reason to rush through this day — whether you are egged on by your own expectations or by annoying peer pressure, there is no good reason not to take things slow. If you have some exciting plans for this evening that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean you should forget about what is going on today. Everything and everyone you encounter right now is worth your full attention. You are sure to learn something in the course of your day that will enrich you.

It might not be law, but it’s good enough for me. Especially since they are always “open to interpretation” like tomorrow’s horoscope:

You have a lot of power over other people today. It might be your charm, it might be your financial influence or it might just be dumb luck. Whatever the reason, you reign supreme right now. Use your position to feed your ego and make yourself more comfortable, but do not let too much of this power go to your head. It is very dangerous for you to push your agenda too hard — especially right now. Instead, use your power to encourage collaboration.

I like the power over people part, I agree, people like doing what I tell them to do =P I’ve got charm but the financial influence, I’m not sure where they’re coming from. Do they mean the power I have to never have money but still somehow convince people to buy my stuff for me? Is that financial influence? LOL! I say it’s dumb luck.

By the way, I don’t have to feed my ego, other people feed my ego for me. And I don’t do collaborations, this is a one woman act. Hahahahahhahaha! Okay, I’m just joking.

I noticed more traffic to the site recently, which probably means I’ve been doing a poor job of keeping in touch by telephone. My sincerest apologies. As always feel free to send hate mail.

Oh, and I dusted off some old pictures, and here’s proof. I’m been a Baby Asian Monkey Princess for awhile, and always have been cranky. Oh and look at my little jewelries! I am so cute! =P

No More Dilly Dallying.

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 7:42 am

I got up early for a specific purpose today.  I’ve lots of stuff to do.  I have to meet Ray at the window tinting place at 8:45ish to drop off the 350z, the tinting is needing fixed.  I will of course be eating lunch with him by 11:15 but between the drop off time and lunch time I will need to go to Butler to see if they have my Visual Basic book in stock yet.  After lunch I need to do dishes and maybe laundry and it’s about time to make another pitcher of sweet tea.  My classes don’t officially start until the 21st but when I checked my courses on-line some early birds are already pecking away at the syllabus and I plan on doing that for the rest of the day.  If I haven’t mentioned I’m taking four programming classes this semester, a last minute change that happened after a visit with an advisor last week.  Each book comes with a CD of the software needed for each programming so I will need to be installing those and downloading supplemantary softwares that the teachers are requiring in the course.  Fun!

Tomorrow Ray’s MBA classes start, (I’d like to mention his work did say they will pay for his courses so we both think that is awesome,) which means he won’t have time to work out and he won’t be home until 9:45pm.  The Homeowners Association meeting is actually on a Thursday, the 31st, and depending on what my work schedule ends up being I may be able to attent on Ray’s behalf.  It might be nice to have some type of presence since he is a member of the board.

The City is still processing employment paperwork for me, so I’m yet to know when my orientation is and what my schedule will be.  I guess that’s why they give you all those employee packets after the job offer – they expect you’ll have enough time while waiting to read through all of them.

Everything will start getting a tad hectic around here until Ray and I get ourselves accustomed to our new schedules.  Logan is starting school today so I gather he is already starting the adjusting process.  But what I wouldn’t trade to be in 1st grade all over again.

Regardless, I’m slowly running out of precious time and I need to start going.  Hopefully I can still maintain the blog while all the mayhem is going on.

Exes and Oh’s (…and Oops!)

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 10:10 pm

bookIt’s been three years in the making but it’s finally published.  A collection of poems I had started at the age of 17 and meant to publish in 2003.  Now finally available for the general public.

I’ve been so excited.  I haven’t even gotten a chance to tell anyone besides Ray, and he’s already planning on retiring.  Poor guy =P  I forgot to tell him that I wasn’t trying to get published to become rich and famous and probably won’t, I just wanted to have my own book.  Simple dreams I guess.

Either way it is published and can be ordered at print format or downloaded as a pdf file at Lulu.com.  If you want to however bypass the registration process and the shipping costs you can just email me directly and I will send you a link to my paypal account so I can order it myself and send it to you.  This might slow down the whole process however, and of course, might piss off the publisher.  Hmmm…more thinking will need to be done, maybe I will bug Ray and borrow some of his brain cells later.  Either way, even if you only choose to download the pdf file itself, I would love to get some feedback from everyone.

BTW, this is pretty old, it’s been sitting in my zip disk for awhile, and sorta autobiographical so some people in my past have been included/mentioned or may even have poems named after them.  I apologize in advance for anyone that might get offended.  That said I hope everyone enjoys it.

Oh, and the dedication was to Logan, but I’d also like to say that this book would have never gotten out of my dusty zip disk if Ray wasn’t there to support me and even push me a little.  I am a lucky girl surrounded by my precious boys.

Good Morning

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 8:33 am

ringI’ve been awake since 6:44am.  Weird dreams about work.  I dreamt I was back at CLC with a new accounting project fairly similar to what I was working on before.  Ray’s alarm clock kept turning off so I thought he was way late going to work, but my dream kept interrupting me from waking him up.  Anyway, he wasn’t late.

My phone’s dead this morning, I barely use it anymore so I only charge it every three days.  I’m trying to sum up the energy to get up and get the charger from my car.  I wanted to check my email, see if they got my Java book in stock and such before I got all the way awake.  I also found a solitaire I can live with since everyone was so against my “gauddy” ring.  Seriously, my main logic – I’ve already had a solitaire engagement ring, I want something new and different.  Besides my ring should be how I want it.  Ah, I’m being a brat.  Ray say’s solitaires have more value and he wants to buy a diamond that’s “an investment.”  Hmmm…whatever.  As long as it’s twice the size of the last one I guess.

Anyway, I started my weekend Thrusday and took Logan to the World Museum of Treasures.  It was really fun doing the scavenger hunt with him, and almost adorable how he was too scared to pose with the mummies.  After that we stopped by Ray’s work and chatted with him for a bit.  Of course, back at Lala’s house he was stuck in front of the TV again.  LOL!  Friday night Ray and I went and ate at Kobe’s and went to the Loft with Eric and Sherri.  I won a game of pool against Eric, my biggest story for that night.  I will never let him live that down.  Saturday morning Ray and I ate breakfast at The Good Egg, which is becomming a tradition but I think soon I might have to request a brunch at Legend’s because it’s been awhile.  We went shopping and I got another new outfit.  (Ray buys me entire outfits usually when he’s recently been in trouble =P)  The shirt he bought me was so absolutely hot I even took it over to Mom’s yesterday and told her she will have to borrow and wear it soon. Oh, and we watched a matinee screening of Talladega Nights.  It was hilarious.  There were so many lines in that movie I can see people using all year and maybe even putting on t-shirts.  But I digress, after the running around we took a quick nap before our big night out.  We had been eating so much all weekend we decided to just go to OC for appetizers before heading to Liquid for the night.  Sunday was our day to relax and Ray started his work-out routine for the week (he always takes weekend breaks mostly to spend time with me.)  Sunday night was dinner at Ray’s parent’s as usual.  I showed them Logan’s website and our most recent pics from the museum.

That about brings us up to date.  So I guess I’ll be off to start the day, but I leave you with pics of my gorgeous little boy.  Enjoy!

The house so far…

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 9:25 am

These pictures were taken some weeks back but I’ve only now found time to upload them. The first pic is the living room. The living room set is carried over from Ray’s previous apartment, the coffee and end tables were purchased recently from furniture row, and the rug was the newest installation. The TV in the corner is temporary, I may have mentioned in previous blogs that we ordered it for the gym downstairs.

The next pic is of the dining area. The dining set is also new. This one Ray picked out and it really shows he’s got great eye for what looks good. The oak matches the cabinetry in the kitchen and the black trim on the chairs carries over the central theme in the living room.

The last pic is of the kitchen, not much to say about this area although I have been spending more and more time in it lately. Ray has gotten back to his regular workout regimen and I’m doing my part by learning to prepare healthier meals. You may think he’s extra picky about his house purchases, well he’s ten times picky about his food. Not taste wise but health wise. It’s only today that he’s told me he finally trusts me to go grocery shopping without him.

Anyway the three rooms are what you see when you first walk in. We’ve not decorated really, we’ve sorta put that aside for when after the big things are done. The big things include the $3k fence Ray just signed for. Yeah, breaks my heart to think of parting with that much money but Ray only pays for the best and the best costs more money.

We’re also both going to school this fall, Ray has decided to get his Master’s so we’ll be extra busy. I hope to get the curtains and the bathrooms decorated before Thanksgiving though. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Wow!

Filed under: Daily Rants — jenni @ 10:14 am

This weekend was absolutely busy.  There was Anthony and Julie’s wedding, which was SO MUCH FUN and I hope to have pictures posted soon.  Dinner at PF Chang’s Saturday night and Sumo’s Sunday night – I am a happy Asian baby!

There will be catch up blogs in between my new job and getting ready for classes to start soon, but the biggest story is my new employer.  Wanna guess?  I’ll give one clue below:

Congratulations, me!  I won’t say which department because I’d hate to alienate myself from the rest of civilization quite yet.  But please send congratulatory cards and checks or money orders =P immediately.  I have tonight as my last shibang and I need martini money.

The Worst Movie Ever!

Filed under: Daily Rants, Movies — jenni @ 12:03 pm

Ohmigawd!  This movie was recommended by Ching and Brian during dinner at Red Robin’s.  What we heard was that it was great, and as a plus for Ray-ray, we were promised a lot of Scarlett Johansen nudity.  Seriously, not even the latter as consolation.  Ray has asked to let Ching know that he has lost all respect in her taste in movies and must now redeem herself, I agree.  And Brian, what is your definition of nudity?

The most drawn out, boring, and predictable set of characters ever put together to sleep walk through an opera based soundtrack.  Seriously.  If you liked opera music before, Woody Allen will make you despise it!

That’s all I’ve got to say about it, really.  I have my Crime and Punishment book, 2nd copy purchased yesterday.  Out of sheer delight of being saved from poorly made movies I’ve decided that even though I was halfway through the book when I lost the 1st copy I will still start from page one, and reread the beginning half.  I’m sure I will be done with the whole thing before the weekend anyway.  It’s certainly a lot more interesting than Matchpoint.
